This is a FREE week-long professional development opportunity at UC Berkeley.

Have you attended BACT previously? This is still an opportunity for you!
This year we're going to be opening up the Summer BACT Workshop
to repeat teachers, with new sessions for teachers who have attended previously.
We're just asking that teachers who have attended previously
also find another teacher to apply with you.
Please note: This year we won't be offering an honorarium/ stipend.
We decided instead to support having more teachers attend the workshop.

A bit late but you might still be able to apply...
USF Fusion Project workshop this summer
For All Middle School Mathematics Teachers,
The University of San Francisco's Fusion Project has obtained funding
and with the support of the de Young Museum will offer the first
workshop for teachers in this unique and exciting bridge between
middle school math classrooms and the de Young Museum.
You can read more about this distinct program of the USF College of
Arts and Sciences with the collaboration of the USF School of
Education in two papers published last summer:
http://www.cs.usfca.edu/~wells/USFFP/
The goal of this initial workshop is to bring our Teachers Advisory Group
(middle school math teachers in public, private, and parochial schools) and
other instructors together with a small number of teachers who are interested
in implementing the FP methodology, materials, and activities in their
classrooms. Ideally, a student field trip to the de Young Museum can be
part of this, but the field trip is not required.
The workshop will take place at the de Young Museum during the week
of June 14. The schedule is still flexible, but we foresee three to four
days at the Museum, with classwork in the morning and touring the
collections in the afternoon. USF FP will offer an honorarium of at least
$500 to each participating trainee, half to be paid at the close of the
workshop and the other half after a successful visit to a classroom to
see an implementation there. Certificates of participation in all phases will also be provided.
Attached is a PDF invitation to participate in the workshop. You are
welcome and encouraged to apply, to post this notice for others who
may be interested, and to forward this email to your colleagues involved
in middle school mathematics.
Thank you for your attention and consideration,

TENTATIVE date for Take Flight for Kids at NASA Ames
TENTATIVE date for Take Flight for Kids at NASA Ames / Moffett
Federal Airfield of Saturday September 11, 2010. We'll let you know
if the date changes, but it's Sept 11 for now. We hope to build the
biggest aviation and science and health fair on the West Coast
at NASA's Moffett Field. I hope you'll be able to join us.
More info as soon as NASA has committed to a final date
One of the key goals of the Take Flight project is to build community.
As such we are offering a service whereby we will offer special
offers from nonprofit groups to the entire Take Flight community.
That's several thousands of families who have flown with us through
the years, thousands of volunteers, hundreds of exhibitors, etc.
We especially love to distribute info about science camps, discounts
to museums, special events & fundraisers, stuff like that.
We expect to send a single email to the Take Flight community
in a couple weeks, announcing a boatload of special offers
from our many nonprofit friends.

Thank you for your continued support of Bay Area Mathematics.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any additional questions.
